MUMBAI, WNS: Citizens residing in Mumbai and adjoining Thane district had to wade through waterlogged streets following overnight heavy rains. The heavy rains also affected the local train services, as well as road traffic movement, in Mumbai.
The heavy rainfall is likely to continue for the next two days.
BMC appealed citizens to stay at home
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appealed to residents to stay at home and urged commercial establishments to remain closed on Tuesday. However, an exception has been given to shops providing essential services.
Notably, heavy rains are likely to continue during the next 48 hours, BMC said.
Suburban train services on harbour line stopped
Suburban train services on the harbour line were stopped in the morning due to water-logging on rail tracks while services on the western and central lines were also affected, a civic official said.
