NEW DELHI, WNS: Nearly seven months since the first Covid-19 case was reported in Kerala on January 30, the number has crossed the 49-lakh mark, making India the second worst coronavirus-hit nation, while it is at the third spot in terms of fatalities globally after the US and Brazil. India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and it went past 40 lakh on September 5. The death toll presently stands at 80,776, with the fatality rate dropping to 1.64 per cent. The national recovery rate is 78.28 per cent.
