
GANDHINAGER, WNS; Ahmedabad police commissioner, Ashish Bhatia is the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat.
Home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja announced the 1985-batch IPS officer Bhatia as the new DGP on Friday.Bhatia will hold the post till May 2022.
Incumbent DGP Shivanand Jha retires on July 31.
The 1983-batch officer was to originally retire in April 2020.
But he was given a three-month extension due to COVID-19, which came to an end in July.
Bhatia was appointed as in-charge Ahmedabad Police Commissioner on October 2019 and later given full-fledged responsibility of the same in December 2019.
